  • Account and VAT code suggested on every line
  • Your bank stays reconciled
  • No bank entry is booked before you press Book

How to connect your bank

  1. Choose your bank and login

Under Integrations you choose the bank and whether you sign in to personal or business online banking. You sign in with MitID in your own online bank, not in Veneti. You can see the supported banks when connecting. Connecting the bank is for the owner and administrators.

  2. Choose the account and the start date

You choose which bank account in the chart of accounts the transactions are booked to, and the date to import from. From that date the bank account belongs to the import alone: no manual entry lands on it, so the bank and the books can match one to one. History before the date you book freely yourself.

  3. Transactions arrive every day

Veneti fetches new transactions every night. If you want them now, press the bank line in the journal. Each transaction becomes one line, never two.

  4. Reconnect when the consent expires

The bank’s consent lasts a limited period. When it expires, the bank card says so, and you connect again with MitID. The transactions in between are fetched too.

Automatic bookkeeping in the journal

Every bank entry lands in the journal with its date, text and amount. Veneti suggests an account and VAT code based on your chart of accounts and previous entries, and the reasoning appears beside the line. Where an account or VAT code is uncertain, you choose between the suggestions with one click.

The receipt for the line arrives by itself: from the company’s own receipt address, from Gmail or Outlook, or from an upload. Read more under receipts and documents.

  • A payment from a customer is matched to the customer invoice automatically, so you can always see what remains outstanding.
  • A payment to a supplier is booked as a supplier payment and settled against the supplier invoice with Settle.
  • A card purchase can be marked as an asset with a lifetime, so the depreciations are placed in the journal every month, once Assets is switched on under Settings.
  • A line you correct stays as you set it: no run moves a categorisation you chose yourself.

Bank reconciliation: how the bank always matches

Every time the bank is fetched, Veneti records the bank’s own balance and compares it with the bank account’s entries in the books, journal included, up to the day the balance was read. If they differ, the bank line in the journal turns red with the difference, and the bank card under Integrations names the vouchers that explain it: a transaction not imported, a voucher the bank no longer shows, or an amount that changed.

Transactions still pending at the bank are shown separately. If they explain the difference exactly, the account is reconciled. A voucher imported from the bank is never reversed: a wrong categorisation is corrected with a general journal entry that moves the amount from the wrong account to the right one, so the bank line stays where the bank put it. See also the guide on bank reconciliation and the term reconciliation.

You decide

Veneti categorises, you review and book. You can change the account, VAT code and text on the line, attach a receipt or split a line; the date, amount and offset account are the bank’s. When a month is ready, you select the lines and press Book once. What is booked is locked; a mistake is corrected with a reversal or a general journal entry, never by changing what is booked.

The owner and administrators connect the bank. A User can set the start date and account on the connection, fetch transactions and reconcile. Read access sees everything without changing anything.

Which plans include bank integration?

Bank integration is included in every plan, Free included. What the plans differ on is the number of vouchers you book: Free has 5 vouchers per month, Pro and Pro+ 100 and Max 500, pooled over the financial year. There is no limit on how many lines are categorised automatically. See the pricing, or get started and connect your bank today.

Questions

Which banks can I connect?

You can see the supported banks when creating the connection under Integrations. You choose whether to sign in to personal or business online banking, and you sign in with MitID at the bank.

How far back do you fetch transactions?

From the start date you choose on the connection, as far back as the bank delivers them. History before the start date you book yourself, or you let us move it from your old accounting application.

Can I post to the bank account manually?

Not from the start date onwards: there the bank account belongs to the import alone, so the bank and the books can match. Before the start date you book freely, and every other account is open as always.

What happens if the balance does not match?

The bank line in the journal turns red with the difference, and the bank card names the vouchers that explain it. Transactions pending at the bank are shown separately. Nothing in the books is changed by itself.

Does Veneti book anything without me?

No. Bank entries stay in the journal with a suggested account and VAT code until you have reviewed them and pressed Book.
