Creditor

A creditor is someone with a claim on you. Your creditors are the suppliers whose invoices you have received but not yet paid. Their sum is a liability in the balance sheet: money you owe. In Danish the word is kreditor.

What is a creditor?

If you receive a supplier invoice for 12,480 kr., the cost is booked on the invoice date, and the amount lands on the control account Creditors. The supplier stands as a creditor until you pay. The payment is then settled against the invoice, and the supplier's balance goes to zero.

A creditor list shows what you owe and when it falls due, and it is the basis for managing cash. The counterpart is the debtor: a customer who owes you money.

Creditor in Veneti

In Veneti supplier invoices arrive as e-invoices or by email to the company's own invoice address. Veneti reads the supplier, amount, due date and account details, finds the supplier and suggests an account and VAT code, so the invoice stands ready on Creditors: ready to book and ready for payment in the bank. The payment arrives through the bank feed and is settled against the invoice with Settle.

The Payables report under Reporting shows an account statement per supplier with balance and open items, and here you settle the payment against the invoice with Settle. Ask Luca whether a supplier has been paid and get the answer from the books.
