E-invoice

A PDF by email is a picture of an invoice. An e-invoice is the invoice itself as data: supplier, amount, VAT, due date and lines in a format the receiver's accounting system can read without anyone typing. It is sent through a network, not as an attachment. In Danish it is an e-faktura.

What is an e-invoice?

The e-invoice follows a standard, OIOUBL in Denmark and Peppol BIS in Europe, which lays down how the details are written in XML. The sender's system sends it to an access point, the network finds the receiver by its address, typically the CVR number, and delivers it to the receiver's system. Danish public authorities receive e-invoices only, so a supplier to a municipality has to be able to send them.

The advantage for the receiver is that the invoice need not be typed or interpreted: the amount, the VAT and the due date are already data. The sender is told whether the invoice has been received and accepted.

E-invoice in Veneti

In Veneti you send customer invoices and credit notes as e-invoices through Peppol and NemHandel with automatic invoice numbering, and supplier invoices arrive the same way: supplier, amount and due date are read from the invoice's data, and it stands in the journal with a suggested account and VAT code. The XML original is kept beside the PDF and follows the voucher when it is booked.

The company is activated as a receiver on its CVR number under Integrations. How to get started: Guide to e-invoicing, NemHandel and Peppol.
